Using Right Data: How Leaders Can Make Data-Based Decisions by Design, Not by Default
A Session by Dr. Jana Lee (K12 Leadership and Instructional Coach, Jana Lee Consulting, LLC)
About this Session
Data-Driven Instruction. It’s an overused phrase that fails to evoke enthusiasm and pretty much leaves anyone who comes in contact with it feeling overwhelmed, confused, and stressed. As a result, data-driven decisions are often based on the default processes already established within the school-community.
Let’s change that narrative.
Join Dr. Lee as she shares how to make the shift to data-driven decisions by design.
In this workshop, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how to leverage Right Data at the classroom level to engage in streamlined data-collection processes at the building level.
Specifically, they will:
1. Learn the Check for Understanding formula, a framework for effective in-class assessment practices.
2, Acquire a protocol for using Check for Understanding data to monitor progress and align with Professional Learning Communities (PLC) goals.
3. Identify steps to align PLC data with building and/or district goals.
Proficiency in the systematic collection, analysis, and interpretation of the Right Data, will ensure that instructional leaders participate in intentional decision-making to tackle achievement gaps at the classroom and school level.
